Kait & Riley | A Campus Proposal at Seton Hill University
Some places hold memories that shape a relationship long before a proposal ever happens. For Kait and Riley, that place was Seton Hill University.
On October 2, 2025, I had the honor of photographing their engagement — a thoughtfully planned surprise proposal set on the campus where their story began.
From College Roommates to a Full-Circle Moment
I went to college with Kait, and during my junior year, her senior year, we were roommates. Seton Hill holds countless memories for both of us, so being asked to photograph such a meaningful moment there felt incredibly full-circle.
Riley reached out to me after I photographed another friend’s proposal. He shared that he was hoping to plan something similar and wanted help capturing the moment. From there, we spent time planning and refining the details to make sure everything felt natural and personal.
A Proposal at a Meaningful Spot on Campus
Riley chose Seton Hill University for the proposal because of its significance to their relationship. After their very first date, Kait and Riley ended up on a grassy hill on campus — a place where they sat and talked for hours, getting to know each other in a way that stuck with them both.
That same spot became the setting for the proposal.
As Kait and Riley made their way to the hill, Riley popped the question, turning a place already full of memories into one they’ll never forget. It was quiet, personal, and perfectly reflective of their relationship.
Capturing the Moment
After the surprise proposal, we spent some time taking lightly staged photos around campus to celebrate the moment and document the excitement of being newly engaged. The familiar setting made everything feel relaxed and genuine, which translated beautifully into the photos.
A few days later, Kait and Riley hosted a celebration party with friends and loved ones — a continuation of a moment that began quietly and intentionally on campus.
Why This Proposal Was So Special to Photograph
Being trusted to photograph an engagement is always meaningful. Photographing one for a close college friend, in a place that holds shared memories for all of us, made this experience especially special.
Kait and Riley’s proposal was a reminder that the most meaningful engagement stories are often rooted in the places and moments that already matter.
