Exploring New Places Through Content Creation
One of the things I love most about creating content is that it has taken me to places I probably never would have discovered otherwise.
Recently, I had the opportunity to partner with Relay Pittsburgh on a collaboration featuring Sigma Snacks and Great Day Juice Company. The experience brought me to Somerset, Pennsylvania, a place I hadn't really explored before, and reminded me that some of the best parts of content creation happen outside of the content itself.
Saying Yes to New Opportunities
When I first started creating content, I thought the biggest benefit would be improving my photography and video skills.
That has certainly happened, but what I didn't expect was how many new experiences would come along with it.
Every collaboration introduces me to a new business, a new product, or a new place. Sometimes it's a brand I've followed for years, and other times it's something completely new to me. Either way, I get to experience it through a creative lens. And this collaboration was one of those opportunities.
Through Relay Pittsburgh, I was invited to visit Great Day Juice Company and feature Sigma Snacks as part of the experience. It wasn't just about creating a few photos or videos. It was about telling the story of two brands working together and finding a creative way to capture that experience.
More Than Just Taking Photos
Whenever I work with a brand, I try to think beyond simply documenting what I see. I ask myself what would make someone stop scrolling. What details tell the story best? What would make someone want to visit or try the product for themselves?
For this collaboration, I focused on creating both photography and vertical video content. The smoothie bowl, fresh juice, and Sigma Snacks cookie all became part of the visual story. Individually, they're great products. Together, they created an experience that felt fresh, colorful, and easy to photograph. I enjoy the challenge of finding those moments that feel authentic while still highlighting what makes a brand unique.
Discovering Somewhere New
One unexpected part of content creation is how often it encourages me to explore places I might not have visited otherwise. Without this collaboration, there's a good chance I never would have made the trip to Somerset, like ever. Instead, I spent part of my day discovering a local business, meeting new people, and experiencing a place that was completely new to me.
I think that's one of the most underrated parts of this kind of work. Content creation gives me an excuse to be curious. To get out of my routine. To explore different communities and support local businesses while doing something I genuinely enjoy.
Why I Keep Saying Yes
If I'm being honest, saying yes isn't always easy. Putting yourself out there can feel uncomfortable. Whether it's applying for a collaboration, reaching out to a brand, accepting an opportunity in a place you've never been, or simply creating content that other people will see, there's always a little bit of uncertainty. I still experience that. I'm still learning how to quiet the voice that wonders if I'm good enough or if I belong in these spaces.
But I've also learned that growth rarely happens by staying where you're comfortable. Every time I say yes to something like this, I leave with more than just photos or videos. I gain experience, confidence, and another reminder that I'm capable of doing things that once felt intimidating. Each opportunity teaches me something new, whether it's about photography, storytelling, marketing, or simply trusting myself a little more than I did the last time.
I'm still learning. I probably always will be. But every collaboration, every new place, and every creative opportunity reinforces that saying yes is almost always worth it. And while I'm still figuring things out as I go, I'm grateful that I've continued to say yes anyway.
Final Thoughts
One of the biggest lessons I've learned through content creation is that saying "yes" often leads to experiences you never would have planned for yourself. What starts as a brand collaboration can turn into discovering a new town, supporting a local business, meeting great people, and creating work you're genuinely proud of. Opportunities like this remind me that creativity isn't just about the final photo or video. It's about the places it takes you, the stories you get to tell, and the people you meet along the way. I'm incredibly grateful to Relay Pittsburgh, Sigma Snacks, and Great Day Juice Company for trusting me with this collaboration, and I'm looking forward to seeing where the next creative opportunity leads.
