Brianna & Shaun | A Winter Wedding in Baltimore, MD

Some weddings are special because of the details. Others are special because of the people. Brianna and Shaun’s wedding was both.

Their February 22, 2025 wedding in Baltimore, Maryland was captured by a small, intentional team of three creatives, including myself as a second shooter alongside a lead photographer and a photographer/videographer. While I was not the primary photographer for the day, I was trusted to document key moments, candid interactions, and details that helped tell the full story of their wedding day.

A Wedding Rooted in Friendship

I met Brianna during our college years at Seton Hill University, where we served as class officers together and built a friendship that has lasted well beyond graduation. When she reached out to ask if I would be part of the "photography team" for her wedding, it meant more to me than just being asked to shoot — it was an invitation to be part of something deeply personal.

Brianna and Shaun intentionally chose to build a creative team made up of friends and family. It allowed them to save money, yes, but more importantly, it meant their wedding day was surrounded by people who genuinely knew and loved them. That sense of comfort and trust was felt throughout the entire day.

Shooting as a Second Photographer

As a second shooter, my role was to support the lead photographer by capturing additional angles, candid moments, reactions, and in-between details that might otherwise be missed. This included moments during preparations, ceremony reactions, and natural interactions throughout the day.

While I wasn’t directing the timeline or leading that many formal portraits, I was given creative freedom — and I’m proud to say I captured several moments that feel like “main shooter” images. These are the quiet exchanges, emotional reactions, and authentic moments that often become favorites long after the day has passed.

Second shooting allows me to focus deeply on storytelling. I’m always watching for emotion, movement, and connection — the moments that unfold naturally when people are fully present.

A Collaborative Approach

Working alongside another photographer and a photographer/videographer created a seamless, collaborative environment. Each of us brought a different perspective to the day, which resulted in a well-rounded visual story that reflects not only how the wedding looked, but how it felt.

This type of team-based approach works especially well for couples who value candid, documentary-style coverage and want their day captured from multiple viewpoints.

Why This Day Meant So Much

Being trusted to photograph the wedding of a longtime friend is something I don’t take lightly. Brianna and Shaun’s day was filled with warmth, intention, and genuine emotion — and capturing that as both a photographer and a friend was incredibly meaningful.

Whether I’m serving as a lead photographer or a second shooter, my goal is always the same: to document moments honestly and thoughtfully, so they can be remembered exactly as they were.
