Alexis & Lexie | A Full-Circle Wedding at the Erie Art Museum
Every photographer remembers the first wedding they ever photographed. For me, that wedding was for my family. Alexis and Lexie's intimate celebration on October 5, 2024 couldn’t have taken place at a more meaningful location.
Held at the Erie Art Museum in my hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania, this small wedding marked a true full-circle moment in my photography journey.
My First Wedding as a Solo Photographer
This was the first wedding I ever photographed — and I did so as the only photographer. While the day itself was intentionally small and low-key (and yes, the couple includes my cousin, which helped keep the stakes a little lighter), I approached it with the same care, attention, and responsibility that any wedding deserves.
Photographing a wedding solo means being fully present for every moment: the big ones, the quiet ones, and everything in between. From documenting details to capturing candid interactions and emotional exchanges, this experience pushed me to trust my instincts and storytelling approach.
An Intimate Celebration at the Erie Art Museum
The Erie Art Museum was the perfect setting for Alexis and Lexie’s wedding — artistic, intimate, and full of character. What made it especially meaningful for me is that I spent years taking photography classes there while growing up. Long before I ever imagined photographing a wedding, that space helped nurture my interest in photography and visual storytelling.
Returning to the museum years later, camera in hand, to photograph a wedding felt incredibly special. It was a reminder that creative paths often come together in unexpected ways.
Documenting a Day That Felt True to Them
Alexis and Lexie’s wedding wasn’t about a packed timeline or elaborate production. It was about connection, love, and celebrating their commitment in a way that felt authentic to them.
My focus throughout the day was on capturing natural moments — shared glances, laughter, quiet conversations, and the kind of emotion that unfolds when people are fully present. These are the moments that matter most long after the day has passed.
Why This Wedding Will Always Matter to Me
This wedding will always hold a special place in my heart — not just because it was my first, but because it represented a blend of family, creativity, and growth. It reminded me why I love photographing real moments and why documentary-style storytelling feels so natural to me.
Every wedding I photograph builds on experiences like this one, shaping how I approach each new couple and each new story.
